Anacortes Softball wins District Title

Congraulations to the Anacortes Seahawks Softball Team. The Hawks beat Sehome (11-1), Lynden (13-3), and Granite Falls (15-8) to take the District 1 2-A softball title. The Hawks advance to the state championships next Friday in Selah, Wa. Check back Monday for more info and some post game audio with Hannah Brennan, Jacki Saunders, and Kelci Douglas.

In order to get pumped for this weekend's District-1 2-A baseball playoff openers, I've complied all the info on every team. Just follow the links and digest to your heart's desire.

Here is the official district tournament bracket and below you will find team sites. All games are to be played at the Anacortes baseball complex. Admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students with ASB card. Children and Senior citizens get in for $4.00 as well. Admission is good for the entire day, so pack a lunch and get ready for some district baseball.

Logo/Gang Symbol Story of the Week:
Posted below is one Satan Disciple's trident tattoo (left) along with the new Arizona State University football uniform logo (right). The Sun Devils play in the Pac-10 Conference. The Satan Disciples are a street gang in Chicago. At least one Chicago police officer thinks these two logos are way too similar. You be the judge.



The Blaine football team will play in the Emerald City Kickoff Classic Sept. 3rd in Qwest Field. The Borderites take on Hazen High School in the 9:30 am game.

Real Madrid Won the Copa del Rey Cup earlier this week in Spain. The team then went all Euro, staging an impromptu victory parade. However, things took a turn for the worse when Madrid's Sergio Ramos dropped the King's cup trophy off the top of the team's double-decker bus. Said bus then ran over the trophy!

Former Anacortes High Standout Keeler Bryntenson will pitch for the Wenatchee Applesox of the Weest Coast League

Alumni Update: Former Anacortes High School baseball standout Keeler Brynteson will spend this summer pitching for the West Coast League's Wenatchee Applesox. Bryntenson is a redshirt junior at the University of Portland and is expected to be a top arm out of the bullpen for the Applesox, who have won the WCL Championship two straight years. The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (W.I.A.A.) recently released the Winter Sports Academic State Champions. Five Athletics Northwest Athletic Conference Squads earned state titles, including the Anacortes boy's wrestling team. Here's the complete printout.
