Summer is Here...I Think!

In honor of the official start of summer (and the unofficial end of the amateur athletic season) here are a few videos what you can expect in the coming weeks. Have a great summer, and remember to wear sunscreen!

PS. Anacortes standout Jackson Kirkpatrick is still looking for advertisers/ticket buyers who want to help him go to Yakima for the All-State Football game at the end of the month. Jack needs to raise about $500, so if you would like to go to the game (June 25) or would like to help a local athlete, contact AHS football coach Bill Evans (360) 941-4510 or contact Carol Kirkpatrick (360) 293-2166 Ext. 2.

OUCH!

This was just one of four hooligans to jump the fence during Saturday's Mariners-Yankees game.

If the boys or girls of summer aren't your thing, you may consider taking up the Japanese sport of Bataoshi.

Weekend Review

In case you missed it (which is a good possibility, considering half of America spent most of their Memorial Day Weekend sitting in traffic on I-90), this weekend provided more sports-related thrills and spills than any other in 2011.

To recap:
Burlington-Edison, Sehome, Lynden, Bellingham, Mount Baker, Anacortes, and Blaine all took home some hardware from the WIAA 2A state championship weekend. The Tiger boys won the coveted state baseball crown by defeating conference rival Sehome 7-0 in the finals.
Western Washington University won the women's NCAA Division II rowing championship for the seventh straight year.
Ohio State University head football coach Jim Tressel resigned late Sunday evening after a tumultuous off season.
And last but not least, New Zealand BMX rider Jed Mildon did this (watch video)! Happy Memorial Day.
