"Winning" Video Links

The Seattle Mariners scored seven runs yesterday (rare) and Miguel Olivo hit a homer (rarer). Neither would have happened without this helping hand from Detroit leftfielder Ryan Raburn.

The Vancouver Canucks ousted the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks last night 2-1 in Overtime. Alex Burrows was the hero for the Nucks, going top shelf for the game winner.

Weekend Links

Lots of great sports stories out there this week. Here are a selection of the best (and by best, I usually mean most ludicrous).

Logo/Gang Symbol Story of the Week:
Posted below is one Satan Disciple's trident tattoo (left) along with the new Arizona State University football uniform logo (right). The Sun Devils play in the Pac-10 Conference. The Satan Disciples are a street gang in Chicago. At least one Chicago police officer thinks these two logos are way too similar. You be the judge.

The Blaine football team will play in the Emerald City Kickoff Classic Sept. 3rd in Qwest Field. The Borderites take on Hazen High School in the 9:30 am game.

Real Madrid Won the Copa del Rey Cup earlier this week in Spain. The team then went all Euro, staging an impromptu victory parade. However, things took a turn for the worse when Madrid's Sergio Ramos dropped the King's cup trophy off the top of the team's double-decker bus. Said bus then ran over the trophy!

The Have and Have-Nots

Two Cincinnati Reds pitchers making news:
1) Ardolis Chapman broke the sound barrier with a thrown ball (not really, but he came close)
2) Mike Leake was arrested for stealing $60 worth of goods from Macy's.

The dichotomy of professional baseball.

The Masters

Camillo Villegas is my ticket to office supremacy
The Masters Tournament kicked off today. I'm not a big golf guy, but I'm pegging Camilo Villegas and Rickie Fowler to win it all (mostly because Fowler sports a Justin Beiber haircut, and so I could lead off with that picture of the dastardly good looking Villegas). KWLE News Guy Glen Harris likes Fred Couples or Vijay Signgh. You can watch the tournament on CBS or online at themasters.com.

More Rainouts

Rain continues to wreak havoc on the Northwest Conference regular season. All of today's (Friday) contests--baseball, softball, track, tennis, and golf--is cancelled. They'll try to make softball and baseball games up tomorrow, but several teams have more than one game to be made up. Look for teams to play some rained out games during Spring Break.
